❄️ PARENT REVIEW • PERFECT COSY WINTER READ
★★★★★
“A modern classic in the making.”
“My 8-year-old and I have been reading this together at bedtime, and it has quickly become a household favourite. It’s warm, beautifully imaginative, and the perfect cosy winter read.”
— Parent review
★★★★★
“A riotous midnight adventure with real heart underneath it.”
“The humour is properly funny rather than merely child-friendly; my Year 4s laughed out loud at Nelson, then went quiet at exactly the right moments.”
— Hazel Corrigan, Year 4 teacher, Herefordshire
★★★★★
“This is the sweet spot for seven to tens.”
“It reads aloud wonderfully — short chapters, clean sentences, a laugh on nearly every page.”
— Priya Ashworth-Vale, children’s librarian, Leeds
★★★★★
“Priest writes animals who actually sound like animals...”
“…stubborn, hungry, permanently unimpressed by human plans — rather than children in fur coats. Nelson is the best talking dog I’ve read in years, but it’s Noodles who stays with you.”
— Duncan Aldwych, children’s author, Bristol
★★★★★
“Pure chaos, pure joy.”
“My eight-year-old read it in two sittings and now insists our Labrador is holding back.”
— Tom Braithwaite, book blogger, Manchester
★★★★★
“Thirty years around donkeys and Priest has got them exactly right...”
“…the sighs, the stubbornness, the flat refusal to be rushed.”
— Eleanor Finch-Marsden, donkey sanctuary owner, Devon
★★★★★
“A wonderful children’s adventure filled with magic, friendship, and plenty of humour.”
“Ashleigh and the Night Riders are charming characters, and the story keeps young readers engaged from start to finish. A fantastic read that leaves you looking forward to the next book.”
— Amazon reader review
★★★★★
“Ashleigh’s bravery is never about saving the world...”
“…it’s about a teddy left behind in a dark classroom six days before Christmas, and Priest understands that to a nine-year-old those are the same size. We finished it in nine days and they asked me to start again from page one.”
— Hazel Corrigan, Year 4 teacher, Herefordshire
★★★★★
“A plot that gathers pace until burglars, police and four flying donkeys collide...”
“…in a school playground. Warm, funny and wonderfully readable. I’ll be pressing it on families all winter.”
— Priya Ashworth-Vale, children’s librarian, Leeds
